Young Freddy Thugstin's father is murdered. His mother is implicated in his death and sentenced to an asylum for the criminally insane. By the age of twelve Freddy lives the hard knock life in the rough streets of Chicago's South side.

Things take a dramatic turn for the worse when the desperate Senator hires a Mafia hit man to kill Freddy and retrieve the documents and the precious jewels.
With time running out and the election nearing frantically, Freddy and Sasha run for their lives... right into a trap! They soon discover the real culprits responsible for his father's murder and it's the last person Freddy would ever imagine.

This book was good because I found myself getting caught up saying "these kids are so stupid" which is exactly the point. The writer made you feel this was actually from the perspective of a teenager. They didn't think like an adult which is how most writers want to portray their teenage characters. No matter how fast a child is forced to grow up, you only learn by living. This was a great book because it was believable. I would definitely read more from this author!Product details

Leo is the BEST. All of his books are must reads
I have enjoyed every other book I've read by Leo but this read like it was maybe his first book ....read his other books
THis story was surprisingly different from what I expected - there were a lot of twists and turns but also a reflection of how crooked and greedy can be not just in the streets but places high up. It had a great ending to which doesn't usually happen
